Oh, I know, it's just a ploy to sell pictures, but nonetheless, here it is. EDIT: The link takes you to the slide show; I'm #78. Thanks, Julia!
(Not a great picture - the sun was in my eyes.)
I'm mildly disappointed that my kilt wasn't in the shot.
And at least moderately disappointed that I didn't get one single kilt-check all day. ;^b |

I installed the BeeJive (pronounced \bē-hīv\) IM client on my iPhone.
(BeeJive is apparently the slickest of the bunch. It works with Push, integrates with the address book, supports UniCode, launches nuclear missiles, breathes underwater, etc.)
Theoretically, you can reach me via any of the following.

| This dog needs a home |
[Jul. 14th, 2009|11:33 pm] |
My Mom was "gifted" a dog last night, which is to say that someone tied him up in her yard and snuck off. He's a pit-bull mix, but friendly and docile despite being malnourished and apparently abused. Does anyone have a home for this poor little guy?
Austin is a very sweet dog. When I first found him he was very hungry but didn't bat an eye when Athena (my dog, shepherd) tried to get in his dish. He doesn't bark much and didn't pay any attention to a cat. Also, I threw a ball for him and he wasn't the least interested in going after it which leads me to believe he's not much for chasing things. Charlie
PS He seems a little hand shy but is already improving. He is very thin but seems to already be gaining weight in only 2 days. He appears to be 1 year to 1 1/2 years old.

| TYA Opportunity |
[Feb. 6th, 2009|02:34 am] |
Hello my fellow Pagans,
My coven, Trust of the Sacred Moon, had a very exciting opportunity to work with a young man incarcerated at the Giddings State School for Boys and this lead to the relationship being built with the Chaplin there. This young man has since moved on and we continue to work with him, however, the Chaplin has called upon us again because he has another young man there who is Wiccan who needs spiritual guidance and someone to lead ritual with him.
We wanted to extend the offer to the rest of the local Pagan community to see if there was anyone who was interested in volunteering with the State of Texas Youth Authority to work with this young man.
Please contact me for more information at gina at sacred dash moon dash coven dot net.
Thank you,
Gina [and Rick] |

| FHS88 20 Year Reunion |
[Aug. 18th, 2008|02:49 am] |
First, the pics.
I shot these at Rock Bottom Brewery on Friday night.
This is a bonus set from the 10 Year reunion.
Now, the verbage.
I flew down the Monday before, so I could take some time to catch up with my Dad, Sister, and Nephews. (Yes, guys, I'll get those pics up soon.)
The main gathering was Friday evening; "8-8-8", as it were. The organizers did a great job; I was impressed at how well it came together, and how many people turned up. The venue was pleasant, and their Nut Brown, Red, and Stout beers were tasty. Special thanks to the organizers for providing name tags - they're great for identifying people in pictures!
At the tenth year reunion there was still a bit of machismo, and a vague sense of competition. Thankfully, all of that seemed to have faded. There were no jocks, nerds, freaks, stoners, losers, or cool kids; those labels didn't quite seem to fit anymore. We were just some passably ordinary folks who all used to kind of know each other from somewhere, middle aged, and talking about kids, jobs, and the mundane details of daily life.
I bugged out around 11 when the crowd started thinning, because I like being enigmatic. Not to mention that I hot gotten a bit squiffy by that point, and was starting to get weird. (Did I mention they had really nice beer?) So I said a few good-byes, confessed to --- that I used to have a huge crush on her, and slunk off into the night. Then a few minutes later I slunk back to close my tab and reclaim my debit card. Heh, I guess I'm still a nerd after all.
I flew back to Austin Saturday morning, half-wishing I would have stayed an extra day for the more casual gatherings that day, but it's just as well. For one night I was able to avoid painful sojourns into "remember when", and awkward questions like, "You're into what?!?" Then again, having more time to catch up with old chums, and getting to know people I had completely overlooked back in the day might have been a good thing. But there is always Internet social networking ... |
